Depart this morning on a memorable Texas and Oklahoma adventure, from the available location of your choice aboard a Burlington Trailways luxury motorcoach. Relax in comfort and style as you travel through picturesque landscapes, with convenient rest and refresh stops, and an on your own lunch, along the way to ensure a pleasant journey. We do have one Mystery Stop planned for you today before we arrive at the Drury Inn and Suites in Springfield in time for the Kickback Reception that you may wish to utilize as your dinner from their selection of hot and cold foods on their buffet along with beverages including some wines, beers, and cocktails along with soft drinks.

Day 2: Friday, September 5, 2025
It’s up and at ‘em this morning as we are leaving a bit earlier than normal. Be sure to fuel up on the hot breakfast buffet before boarding the motorcoach for a day of travel to Grapevine, Texas. Along the way, we make a rest stop at the Oklahoma Welcome Center in Miami. This center offers a chance to stretch your legs, gather travel information, and enjoy a bit of Oklahoma hospitality. By the way, Miami is not pronounced like the city in Florida – it is “my am uh” – now you’ll sound like a local!
For lunch, we make a stop at Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store. Known for their farm-to-table approach, Braum’s is a unique family-owned chain that serves fresh, locally sourced food. Beyond their signature ice cream, Braum’s offers a variety of lunch options, including made-to-order burgers, chicken sandwiches, fresh salads, and hearty sides. Their ingredients are sourced from the company’s own farms, ensuring top-quality freshness. After, don’t miss the chance to indulge in one of their rich, creamy ice cream treats or a refreshing shake! We will have one more rest and refresh break before arriving at the Hyatt Place Dallas/Grapevine for a 2-night stay. Dinner is included this evening at a local favorite restaurant.

Day 3: Saturday, September 6, 2025
Rise and shine for a hearty breakfast before setting out for an exciting day in Fort Worth, Texas! Your first stop will be the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, located in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. This fascinating museum celebrates the lives and legacies of the men and women who have made significant contributions to the cowboy and western culture. You’ll see memorabilia, photographs, and stories that showcase the rich history of rodeo and ranching, as well as displays of western art and collectibles.
Be sure not to miss the daily Longhorn Cattle Drive at the Fort Worth Stockyards at 11:30 this morning! Experience the thrilling spectacle as genuine Texas cowhands drive a herd of majestic longhorns down Exchange Avenue, just as it was done in the Old West. Afterward, enjoy lunch and take some time to explore the Stockyards at your leisure. From unique shops and local artisan goods to historic saloons and live entertainment, there’s plenty to experience. You may want to take the time to check out the behind-the-scenes Fort Worth Herd Experience that takes place from 1:30 – 2:30 this afternoon. It provides an interactive program with a live experience interacting with the Drovers while they use tools that were used during the Cattle Drive Era.
Returning to Grapevine, you’ll savor a delightful wine tasting. The Grapevine area is home to a number of vineyards and wineries, making it a key destination on the Texas wine trail. This region is known for its diverse grape varieties and commitment to quality winemaking, with offerings ranging from robust reds to crisp whites and flavorful blends. Afterward, your evening is free to enjoy dinner and explore historic downtown Grapevine. Wander along charming Main Street, lined with unique boutiques, galleries, and a vibrant mix of dining options. It’s the perfect way to end a day rich with culture, history, and flavor.
We return to our hotel for a great night of rest as we head out in the morning for another new adventure.
Day 4
Day 4: September 7, 2025
After taking in breakfast, we’ll depart the hotel and set off for Waco, Texas—a city that’s become synonymous with HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines and their hit show, Fixer Upper. Waco offers a unique blend of history, shopping, and culinary delights, making it a highlight of any Texas adventure.
Our first stop is the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum. Dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the legendary Texas Rangers, this museum features fascinating exhibits, artifacts, and memorabilia that span nearly two centuries of law enforcement history. From tales of famous Rangers to displays of historic firearms and interactive exhibits, you’ll gain insight into the storied past of these iconic lawmen.
From there we’ll head over to the Magnolia Market at the Silos, Chip and Joanna’s beloved retail destination. Here, you can explore unique shops, beautiful gardens, and grab a bite at one of the many food trucks or eateries nearby. Take time to soak in the atmosphere, browse Magnolia’s stunning wares and try out the gourmet treats from the Silos Baking Co. for a sweet finish before exploring further in Waco. The afternoon is free for you to do as you choose, but we highly suggest that you make the time to visit the Dr. Pepper Museum, with your included admission, housed in the historic Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company building. Here, you’ll learn about the origins of the oldest major soft drink brand in America, discover quirky artifacts, and even have a chance to sample Dr. Pepper products. It’s a fun and flavorful way to experience a piece of Texas history. Did you know that Dr. Pepper is the oldest major soft drink in the United States and was created in Waco, Texas, in 1885 by pharmacist Charles Alderton? Initially crafted as a soda fountain drink at Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store, its unique blend of 23 flavors quickly captured local popularity before becoming a national favorite. Be sure to also visit Spice Village, a collection of more than 60 boutique shops housed under one roof! From home décor and clothing to specialty food items and gifts, there’s something to delight every shopper.
During our stay in Waco, you’ll enjoy the comfort and charm of the Hotel Indigo Waco-Baylor. This boutique hotel blends modern amenities with a vibrant, locally inspired design, offering a true taste of Waco’s unique character. Conveniently located, it places you just a short distance from both Spice Village and the Magnolia Market at the Silos. Dinner is included this evening at one of the favorite local restaurants where you can visit with the other Trailways Travelers about what you did on your own this afternoon and about any treasures you may have purchased to take back home.

Day 5: Monday, September 8, 2025
Start the day with a satisfying breakfast at the hotel before checking out and continuing on our journey south to Austin, Texas. Here, you’ll visit the Bullock Texas State History Museum, a captivating destination that brings the story of Texas to life. Through three floors of engaging exhibits, historical artifacts, multimedia displays, and an impressive IMAX theater, you’ll explore Texas’ rich history, from its earliest days through its evolution into a modern state. Next, we’ll head to Johnson City for a delicious group lunch at a local restaurant, where you’ll enjoy authentic Texas flavors and friendly hospitality.
After lunch, we’ll visit the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site. This park and visitor center honor the life and legacy of the 36th President, Lyndon B. Johnson, providing a window into Texas Hill Country heritage and the Johnson family’s deep roots in the area. Stroll the trails, explore exhibits on LBJ’s life and presidency, and step back in time with visits to historic structures, including the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm. Our journey continues to Wildseed Farms, the largest working wildflower farm in the United States. Wander through vibrant fields of seasonal blooms, browse their garden center, and find unique gifts in the boutique. It’s a beautiful place to relax and appreciate nature’s splendor, with plenty of opportunities to snap photos of colorful flowers in bloom.
Concluding the day, we’ll arrive at Fredericksburg Inn & Suites. Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, this charming inn offers modern comfort with a touch of rustic charm. The evening is yours to enjoy, with dinner and time to explore downtown Fredericksburg at your leisure. Stroll along Main Street to find boutique shops, local restaurants, and lively entertainment that capture the essence of this historic town.

Day 6: Tuesday, September 9, 2025
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before checking out and heading to one of Texas’ most iconic landmarks—The Alamo. Originally founded in the 18th century as Mission San Antonio de Valero, the Alamo was the site of a pivotal battle during the Texas Revolution in 1836. As you walk through this historic complex, you’ll see exhibits detailing the struggle for Texas independence, the lives of the defenders, and the Alamo’s enduring legacy. Explore the original mission church, browse artifacts, and immerse yourself in stories of heroism and sacrifice that shaped the history of Texas. After lunch, on your own, enjoy a relaxing cruise on the San Antonio Riverwalk. This picturesque waterway is lined with lush gardens, charming walkways, and unique shops and eateries. Glide along the river while learning about the city’s history and culture from your guide, then take some time to explore the River Walk at your own pace. Whether you prefer shopping, sampling local cuisine, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, this vibrant area has something for everyone.
Later, we check into the Drury Inn & Suites Riverwalk San Antonio. Centrally located and offering excellent amenities, it provides the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring. Dinner will be enjoyed as a group at El Mercado, a colorful marketplace known for authentic Mexican dining, unique shops, and lively music. After dinner, return to the hotel for the remainder of the evening, free to relax, explore more of San Antonio’s charm, or enjoy the city’s nighttime ambiance at your leisure.

Day 7: Wednesday, September 10, 2025
After a hearty breakfast at the Drury Inn, we bid farewell to San Antonio as we check out and begin our journey to Houston, Texas, with a rest and refresh break along the way to ensure a comfortable trip.
Our first stop in Houston will be the renowned Space Center Houston, the official visitor center for NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Here, you’ll get a fascinating glimpse into the history of space exploration. One of the highlights of your visit will be the tram tour, which takes you behind the scenes to see real NASA spacecraft, astronaut training facilities, and mission control centers that have played pivotal roles in the U.S. space program. You’ll learn about the Apollo missions, the International Space Station, and much more. The museum also features immersive exhibits, including the iconic Saturn V rocket and actual spacecraft. Lunch will be on your own at the Space Center, where you can choose from various food options available onsite, or explore nearby eateries to enjoy a meal at your own pace.
Later we check into the Hampton Inn Houston Pearland for a relaxing overnight stay. This comfortable hotel offers convenient amenities and a welcoming atmosphere for a restful night. Have some time to freshen up for an included group meal at a local restaurant, giving you the opportunity to reminisce about the day’s experiences and enjoy some local Texas flavors. Afterward, you’ll have the remainder of the evening to relax and unwind at the hotel.

Day 8: Thursday, September 11, 2025
Start your day with a hearty hot breakfast at the hotel, providing the energy you’ll need for the journey ahead. Then we are off for Dallas, Texas, to visit the Dealey Plaza Sixth Floor Museum. This renowned museum, housed in the former Texas School Book Depository, chronicles the life, legacy, and tragic assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Exhibits feature historic photographs, films, and artifacts that capture the events of that fateful day, as well as an in-depth look at Kennedy’s presidency and the cultural impact of his leadership. You’ll be able to stand near the window where the shots were fired and reflect on one of the most significant moments in American history. After your visit, enjoy lunch on your own in the surrounding area, where you can choose from a variety of dining options that reflect the diverse flavors of Dallas.
Our journey then takes us to Sulphur, Oklahoma, where we’ll explore the Chickasaw Cultural Center. This world-class facility celebrates the vibrant culture, history, and traditions of the Chickasaw Nation through engaging exhibits, interactive displays, and live demonstrations. You’ll learn about the Chickasaw people’s resilience and creativity through artifacts, artwork, and multimedia presentations, all within a beautifully landscaped campus that honors Native American heritage.
We check into the luxurious Artesian Hotel later this afternoon. This elegant hotel offers top-notch amenities and a perfect blend of modern comfort and historical charm. We’ll gather for an included group dinner at a local restaurant, sharing stories and reminiscing about the day’s experiences before settling in for a restful overnight stay.

Day 9: Friday, September 12, 2025
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before checking out and traveling to Pawhuska, OK with a Rest & Refresh stop along the way. In Pawhuska, we have a guided city tour to include a deep dive into the rich history and culture of the Osage Nation. Learn a bit about the filming of the movie Killers of the Flower Moon based on the true story of the Osage people and the murders that occurred in the 1920’s. Our guide will tell us more about the Osage people’s profound heritage, their role in shaping the region, and their experiences during the oil boom era of the early 20th century. If available, we will visit the Pioneer Woman Lodge, owned by Ree Drummond (known for her popular Pioneer Woman brand), offers a behind-the-scenes look at where her show is filmed and the rustic charm of life on the ranch.
In the afternoon, you’ll have lunch at your leisure in downtown Pawhuska, which is brimming with character and charm. Take your time exploring the Pioneer Woman Mercantile, where you’ll find Ree’s signature home goods, specialty foods, and plenty of tempting treats. The town also features a variety of other boutiques and restaurants, offering unique shopping and dining experiences. Next, you’ll head to Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve, founded by oilman Frank Phillips. This name will be familiar to you after this morning’s guided tour. This unique attraction blends Western art, Native American artifacts, and historical relics with a 3,700-acre wildlife preserve. Stroll through the museum’s impressive galleries and enjoy the scenic beauty of the preserve, home to bison, elk, and other wildlife.
From here, we’ll travel to Joplin, Missouri, where you’ll settle in at the Drury Inn & Suites Joplin. Enjoy the Kickback Reception offering complimentary drinks to include some beers, wines, and cocktails along with soft drinks and a hearty variety of hot and cold foods. Take the time to mingle with your fellow travelers before heading to your room for the night. From the historic landmarks like the Alamo and the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame to the breathtaking beauty of Wildseed Farms and the fascinating history at the Space Center Houston, we’ve seen and learned so much. We’ve enjoyed fantastic meals, from local regional favorites like Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store to group dinners at charming Texas restaurants, and we’ve been treated to warm hospitality along the way.
