Join us this morning from the available departure location of your choice, meet your friendly onboard Trailways host and driver and then settle in as we head north to Michigan. Enjoy rest and refresh breaks along the way today, as needed, as well as a stop for lunch, on your own.
Dinner this evening will be at Antonio’s Cucina Italiana in Farmington Hills. Everything is made the old-fashioned way “Fata in Casa” (in house). Enjoy authentic Italian dishes with delicious sauces, soup, the famous fresh baked bread and pastas. Enjoy the King Feast – served family-style.
Arrive at Comfort Suites in Southgate for our overnight stay. The remainder of the evening is yours, on your own.

Day 2

Day 2: Thursday, June 22, 2023
Have breakfast at the hotel this morning before departing for the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant in Detroit. The birthplace of the Ford Model T car, the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is recognized as one of the most significant automotive heritage sites in the world. The first 12,000 Model T’s were assembled here and shipped out by railroad.
Enjoy a quick stop for lunch after the Plant tour before we head for the Ford Rouge Factory in Dearborn. Discover your drive. Pop open the hood on game-changing technology, sustainable design, and sheer American grit at America’s greatest manufacturing experience. Experience the awe-inspiring scale of a real factory floor as you rev up your inner engineer. Get an inside look at the making of America’s most iconic truck, the Ford F-150 and immerse yourself in modern manufacturing’s most progressive concepts on a self-guided walking tour of Ford’s final assembly plant. This is where big ideas gain momentum.
Experience and celebrate engineering ingenuity behind the production of the award-winning truck with a multisensory film experience complete with a vibrating seat, gusts of wind, and winking robots. You’ll see the manufacturing process up close, from concept to highway. Don’t miss the “living roof” growing on top of the Dearborn Truck Plant final assembly building. It spans 10.4 acres and is one of the largest living roofs in the world.
Later this afternoon we depart for Grosse Pointe Shores for a tour of the Ford House that will include dinner. The Ford House stands as a testament to Edsel & Eleanor’s commitment to design excellence. You’ll find it’s not ostentatious or intimidating, despite the elegant décor and the fine art on the walls. The rooms feel intimate and comfortable. It isn’t just a house – it’s a home. A warm welcoming place for family.
The house was designed by prominent architect Albert Kahn, known for his work on several structures in Detroit and industrial design in Ford Motor Co. factories. It was inspired by Cotswold-style cottages in England. The family moved into their home in 1928.
Around every corner you can discover world-class art and design pieces collected by art-lovers Edsel and Eleanor. They displayed paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and Diego Rivera – a personal friend of Eleanor.
With 87 acres, the Ford House grounds, gardens and lakeside landscapes offer you ample space to explore in the natural beauty. Tiptoe through the blooms on Flower Lane, get lost in the heavenly scent of the Rose Garden, enjoy the tranquility of Bird Island, and watch the sailboats and freighters float by on Lake St. Clair. In 2016 the Ford House was honored as a National Historic Landmark.

Day 3

Day 3: Friday, June 23, 2023
After breakfast, arrive at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Experience firsthand the sights, sounds and sensation of America’s fascinating formation, where over 80 acres brim with resourcefulness and ingenuity. Here, 300 years of American perseverance serve as a living reminder that anything is possible. A vibrant exploration of genius in all its forms, Henry Ford Museum allows you to experience the strides of America’s greatest minds while fully immersing yourself in their stories.
Step inside the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand by taking a seat, explore the lab where Thomas Edison had his lightbulb moment, or the workshop where the Wright brothers taught us to reach the sky. Enjoy a train ride, see history from your seat as the train passes through Greenfield Village, granting passengers a tour of the beautiful landscape and buildings. Take a ride in a real Model T, or a walk through four working farms. Rub shoulders with world-class artisans and explore the place where America’s can-do spirit inspires you to go out and get it done.
Take time to have lunch, on your own, while here today. Return to the hotel later this afternoon for a quick rest and refresh before we head to dinner at Golden Corral.
