Join us from the available departure location of your choice this morning, meet your friendly on-board Trailways host, then sit back and relax as we journey to Kalona, IA. Start the morning off right with some coffee and a freshly-baked sticky pecan roll or doughnut at Golden Delight Bakery! You will not find a better, more buttery pecan roll around! Take some time to shop for a stash of goodies to take home with you such as homemade breads, pies, cakes, turnovers and more! By the way, they freeze really well too - if you don’t eat them all first! But, there’s even more here with furniture, flowers, and several staple items on their shelves as well.

Arrive at the Kalona Historical Village Visitor’s Center for a short discussion about the customs and lifestyles of the various Amish and Mennonite groups that live in the area.

Enjoy lunch in a Mennonite Home with Roast Pork Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Cole Slaw, Noodles, Green Beans, Tapioca Salad, fresh homemade bread and an assortment of Pies for dessert. Beverage choices are water, tea or coffee.

Bring your list of any spices and bulk food items you may need for our stop at Stringtown Grocery, a grocery store serving the needs of the Amish and Mennonite community as well as visitors.

A stop at the Wilson Apple Orchard is in order on our return back home. At Wilson’s you can find fresh-picked apples from some of their 120 different varieities, cider, apple cider vinegar, jams, jellies, fruit butters, mustards and more! The bakery offers freshly-baked turnovers and frozen pies to bake later, apple cider donuts, dried apple chips, an apple snack mix and their own homemade caramel drizzle.
