Day 1

Day 1: Tuesday, May 16, 2023
Join us this morning from the available departure location of your choice, meet your friendly onboard Trailways host and driver, then settle in for the ultimate Southern road trip!
Enjoy rest and refresh breaks as we travel along, as well as a stop for lunch, on your own, before arriving in Kansas City this afternoon. Check in to the Drury Inn Overland Park in time to enjoy a kickback reception providing a rotating menu of hot food and cold beverages. You may also choose to have dinner, on your own, at a nearby restaurant. The hotel will also offer complimentary soda and popcorn in the lobby until 9:30 pm.

Day 2

Day 2: Wednesday, May 17, 2023
Enjoy a full breakfast at the hotel this morning before continuing our road trip south. Arrive in Pawhuska, Oklahoma later this morning. Pawhuska is the home of Ree Drummond “The Pioneer Woman,” a noted food writer and television personality. Today, as you arrive, you will start out your time in Pawhuska with a delectable lunch prepared from her recipes and then have a chance to shop in the famous Mercantile and peep in the shops downtown.
The Pioneer Woman Mercantile is a must-see. The Mercantile began in 1910 as Osage Mercantile and was a place for trading goods and browsing. Ree and her family wanted to honor The Merc’s legacy by creating a shopping experience that hints to an earlier time in small town America.
Explore the glorious cabinets, browse the abundant shelves, and peek in all the drawers! Shopping at The Merc is a treasure hunt, with surprises everywhere you turn. There is also a Deli and a Bakery where you can enjoy comfort food classics in the deli, to hand-crafted bakery items, the offerings are endlessly delicious.
After The Merc, we’ll enjoy an afternoon visit to Old West Buffalo. In this unique 90-minute experience, you’ll learn the epic tale of the American buffalo in the comfort of a rustic, elegant event space. Then, hop into a hay wagon for a ride into the buffalo herd!
You’ll also have time to browse the Trading Post for unique mementos and healthy grass-fed bison meat. Stroll down the boardwalk past the apothecary, the saloon and the bank, and take a selfie inside the jail. Visit the hall of fame where you’ll learn even more about the fine folks who saved the buffalo from extinction.
Upon arriving in Tulsa this evening, you’ll enjoy an included dinner at Cracker Barrel before checking into your hotel in Claremore for an overnight stay.

Day 3

Day 3: Thursday, May 18, 2023
After having breakfast at the hotel, we continue our way south into Texas this morning.
This afternoon, arrive at Southfork Ranch, famously known as the Ewing Ranch on the TV Show “Dallas”. History at Southfork began in 1978 when Lorimar Productions chose the North Texas showplace as the site for the CBS TV series. The hit series, which counted millions of viewers across the United States and in 95 countries as fans, was originally broadcast from 1978 to 1991. The series continues to broadcast in syndication and still is in first-run status in many countries around the world. Because of the ranch’s high profile on TV, the beautiful white mansion, the pool, the barns and surroundings quickly became a tourist mecca. Enjoy a late lunch of Texas BBQ after arrival, then have a tour of the ranch.
Arrive in Waco this evening and enjoy a nice meal at a local restaurant before checking in to our hotel for a two-night stay. Make sure you get plenty of rest tonight for your fun filled day of exploring the next morning! You never know if a TV camera might be in your future or maybe you’ll see Chip or Joanna Gaines!

Day 4

Day 4: Friday, May 19, 2023
Enjoy breakfast this morning before meeting our step-on guide for a narrated history & highlights tour of Waco. The town is more than just The Magnolia Market. Did you know: The remains of mammoths (from pre-historic time) were discovered here in 1978; and cattle drives moving herds on the Chisholm Trail cross the Brazos River in Waco on the historic suspension bridge. Also included on this tour will be a stop at Harp Design Co.
Harp Design Co. is featured on HGTV’s Fixer Upper. Clint & Kelly Harp founded this company that is gaining fame for making handmade furniture with recycled and reclaimed wood. Many of their pieces are a patchwork of pine, oak, mahogany, walnut poplar and other reclaimed woods rescued from old buildings, fallen trees and scrap piles.
You’ll also be able to visit the Dr. Pepper Museum today. Here, you’ll learn the history and see the memorabilia of the soft drinks in a 1906 bottling plant. This is a one hour self-guided tour with a Dr. Pepper treat at the conclusion of the tour. Wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper too?
Finish off your tour today by enjoying some time at Magnolia Market and the Silos with time for shopping in the Market, games on the lawn, and touring the garden. You’ll also have lunch, on your own, at the ‘Siloteria’ – a collection of food trucks located on the grounds.
After your full day of exploring, have a relaxing dinner, at a local restaurant, to stimulate your creativity for your last adventure of the day – a Paint & Wine Party! After dinner, bring your own bottle of wine and prepare to dazzle yourself with your talents in painting or laugh at yourself for your efforts and sip on a glass of wine while enjoying the company of your fellow Trailways Travelers. Either way, the night will be fun, eventful, and give you a lasting memory of your time in Waco.

Day 5

Day 5: Saturday, May 20, 2023
Enjoy one last breakfast Texas style before we depart to head East this morning. As we make our way to Mississippi today enjoy rest and refresh breaks, as well as a stop for lunch, on your own, before arriving at the Duck Commander Gift Shop & Museum in West Monroe, Louisiana – the home of the hit show “Duck Dynasty.” The warehouse, gift shop, and museum were created to give a family-oriented exhibit, perfect for all ages and to entertain families and duck hunters alike. Take a self guided tour of the different look alike sets, costumes and family artifacts from the show.
Later this afternoon, arrive in Vicksburg, Mississippi for an overnight stay. After checking in to our hotel, enjoy dinner, on your own, at a nearby restaurant.

Day 6

Day 6: Sunday, May 21, 2023
After breakfast this morning, visit Laurel, MS, made famous on the HGTV show “Home Town.” Laurel is a small town in the heart of Mississippi with a rich history and lively spirit. From the oak lined streets to the friendly neighbors, you’ll feel right at home!
While here, you’ll visit the Laurel Mercantile Co. where you step back in time and discover a retail store full of heirloom quality, American made goods. There’s a little something for everyone – original apparel, candles, homewares and original artwork and woodworking from LMCo., the company of co-owners and HGTV’s Home Town hosts, Erin and Ben Napier. You’ll leave with your bags and hearts full, inspired and proud for all our hometowns across the USA.
You’ll also have time to visit the Scotsman Co. General Store today. Inspired by general stores of yesteryear, The Scotsman General Store is sure to remind you of a place from your own hometown. Take a peek inside Ben Napier’s woodshop where he creates the custom woodwork you see on HGTV’s Home Town (shhhh…. If you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of filming!) The store offers Scotsman brand apparel and handmade wood products, original and delicious pantry items, nostalgic candies…but your favorite may be the world’s largest display of vintage sodas in the walk-in cooler!
After enjoying your time in Laurel today, you’ll travel to Wetumpka, Alabama and check into the Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Wetumpka for the night. Check out the gaming floor and get in on the action with over 2,500 of today’s most popular games. The entertainment center also features major events year-round and you don’t want to miss the casino’s shark-tank experience. Dinner is included at the casino this evening.

Day 7

Day 7: Monday, May 22, 2023
Have breakfast at the hotel and perhaps play a few more slots this morning before departing for Wetumpka for your tour of the day! This Alabama town was recently featured on the HGTV series Home Town Takeover. Wetumpka beat out 2,600 other US small towns to be chosen for the starring role in the show. Ben and Erin Napier, stars of Home Town, help put the city back on the map, taking on 12 renovation projects in the town including restaurants, shops, houses, public spaces, a farmers market and a downtown street. Your local guide will narrate as you tour the city.
Be sure to stop by the new Wetumpka Wall Mural for a selfie. Several feature films have also been filmed in downtown Wetumpka including The Grass Harp, The Rosa Parks Story, and Big Fish.
You’ll also have free time to explore all the updates that have been made to Company Street while visiting the local shops including Tapp18 which was featured on the show. Enjoy lunch, on your own, before departing.
Late this afternoon, we land in Nashville, Tennessee. This evening spend some time strolling the sidewalks and shops of downtown Nashville. Explore and unwind with some free time while indulging your taste buds by having dinner, on your own, at any one of the many delightful local restaurants before we depart for our hotel in Paducah, Kentucky for the night.
