Day at Sea
Today is a day spent at sea sailing north past the point of Cape Cod towards Canada. The Queen Mary II, affectionately known by customers as simply the QM2, offers so much space on board and such an array of state of the art facilities including a 3D Cinema and a superb spa. Enjoy the majestic Britannia Restaurant, the swank Commodore Club, have a draught in the Golden Lion Pub, discover the world’s only shipboard Planetarium, and enjoy dancing with dinner in the chandeliered Queen’s Room. Oh, and you will also discover that no one does afternoon tea better than the Brits!

Halifax, Nova Scotia
This morning the ship is in St. John, New Brunswick. Your day will include a St. John highlights tour tracing over 400 years of history in the heart of Canada’s oldest incorporated city. You will see prominent landmarks and historic buildings as your guide introduces the many fascinating personalities and events that make Saint John the greatest little city in the east.
Enjoy an exterior view of the Carleton Martello Tower and visit the interpretation center. The tower was built during the War of 1812 as a precaution against an American attack, and although sixteen such towers were constructed across Canada in the early 19th century, this is one of the few remaining. One sight not to be missed when calling at Saint John, is the famous Reversing Falls at Fallsview Park. From the bluffs, your guide will explain how twice daily the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy rise faster than the river can empty.
We also drive past the Irving Mansion, Rockwood Park, Loyalist Burial Grounds and Historic Trinity Royal. Walk through the Old City Market on Germain Street, where local folk have been purchasing their fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and meats since 1876.

Having sailed through the night you arrive in Boston Harbor late this morning where we’ve pre-packaged another wonderful shore tour. Hailed as the “Cradle of American Independence,” Boston is filled with historic sites. It was America’s first great city. In the 19th century, She was rightly described as the “Athens of America.” Today this city of 800,000 retains its vitality, combining historic districts with revitalized urban centers while remaining faithful to its venerable roots. It is a city every American should visit at least once. You will follow the Freedom Trail along three of the most historic miles in the country. You will enjoy a visit with the character of Paul Revere at the Old North Church. Then, take a tour of the Boston Tea Party Ship and Museum where live actors, high—tech, interactive exhibits, authentically restored tea ships and the stirring, multi-sensory documentary “Let it Begin Here,” are just a taste of what you’ll see, hear and feel.

Today is a full day in Boston. Enjoy all things freedom as you spend America’s Independence Day in the city where it all started! This evening the City of Boston has a marvelous Fireworks display and you can watch it at a distance from the ship. Relaxing on deck without a crowd, you might find a moment of historical humor in this Francis Scott Key type moment, as you too are actually onboard a British Ship with bombs bursting in air. It’s a unique opportunity to celebrate America’s Independence Day. It’s also important to remember that you were gifted a box of Boston Harbor Tea yesterday, what you do with that tea tonight is entirely up to you!
