Ohio Amish Country Tour

Ohio Amish Country Tour

Ohio Amish Country

June 4-9, 2018

We all had so much fun last year on our tour of Indiana’s Amish Country, that we have decided to check out Ohio’s Amish Country this year. This tour will be filled full of Amish delights and the opportunity to Make, Bake, and Take items home with you. We overnight the first night at the Drury Inn in Indianapolis where you can partake in the evening’s Kickback Reception and, if you wish, dinner on your own at a nearby restaurant.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing to arrive in Sugarcreek, just in time for lunch at Anna Erb’s. Along with lunch, learn how the Amish make Peanut Butter Whip, a delicious treat, and get to take some home with you for later. Visit Behalt and the 10’ x 265’ cyclorama illustrating the history of the Amish and Mennonite people from their early Anabaptist beginnings in Zurich, Switzerland in 1525, to the present day. This beautiful art exhibit will leave you with a deep understanding of these peaceful people.

Check in to the Carlisle Inn Walnut Creek where you will feel like it is a ‘’home away from home’’ in the comfortable surroundings. Enjoy some time to relax or perhaps some afternoon shopping on your own at some nearby stores before dinner at Der Dutchman in Walnut Creek. Enjoy a Dutchman style feast and end the evening by listening to live entertainment from the Mark Beachy Family Singers.

Over the next two days, explore the world’s largest Amish Community with your local guide. Some of your stops will include the Coblentz Leather shop, the Wendell August Forge, Warther’s Carvings and Cutlery, the Hershberger Farm and Amish Bakery, Heini’s Cheese Chalet, Lehman’s General Store, Walnut Creek Cheese and more. Enjoy several meals with a cooking demonstration, a wedding feast, and dinner before the show "Bet the Farm," a musical comedy show at the Amish Country Theatre. Of course along the way you will get to make, bake, and take items home with you as mementos of your time in Ohio’s Amish Country! Don’t miss out… those who traveled with us on our Amish tour last year still rave about what a good time they had!
