It’s time to enjoy a fun day out in Kalona with your friends and Trailways Travel! Join your friendly on-board host as you board the deluxe motorcoach at the available departure location of your choice. Your first stop is a "hidden gem" that has now been found by so many that they have expanded their building to accommodate the business. Golden Delight Bakery is located down one of the Amish/Mennonite country roads where you will find the most delicious caramel pecan cinnamon rolls ever! Enjoy a homemade doughnut and a cup of coffee and be sure to take a package of the cinnamon rolls and maybe some bread or a pie (or two!) home with you for later! They also have a selection of beautiful furniture, household items, and more.

We then arrive at the Kalona Historical Village Visitors Center where you’ll meet our guide and be given a short overview of Kalona. Enjoy a quick restroom break before starting your full day touring. Arrive at Amish Goat Dairy and discover the local dairy goat industry at this Amish farm, which milks an average of 200 goats twice daily. Learn how an Amish operation operates, the feeding regimens and what equipment their religion allows them to utilize.

Before lunch, we depart the farm for Max-Cast Sculpture Foundry. Founded in 1983 by artists, Steve Maxon & Doris Park, Max-Cast is a full-service foundry, casting in bronze, iron, and aluminum. Your guide explains the unique steps and different processes used in the metal casting of fine art sculptures.

Lunch today is a real treat with a homemade meal, served family-style, in a Mennonite home. We arrive back at the Kalona Historical Village Visitors Center to enjoy coffee and a strudel while learning about the lifestyles of the various Amish and Mennonite churches throughout the Kalona area.

This afternoon, have free time for browsing in the quilt galleries and many shops downtown, on your own, and be sure to notice the quilt blocks in the downtown sidewalks.

Later, we arrive at Stringtown Grocery and Kalona Creamery. Stringtown Grocery is known for their Amish bulk food grocery which is a favorite of locals, and a landmark for visitors interested in the unique offering of ingredients for baking and snacking. The store also features an organic section. Kalona Creamery was previously known worldwide as the Kalona Cheese Haus. This locally-owned dairy has been modernized and now gives local farmers a novel option for their milk. Enjoy some fresh samples while at the creamery. It’s sure to be a fun, relaxing day in beautiful Kalona!
