Day 1

Day 1: Wednesday, December 2, 2020
Join us this morning from the available departure location of your choice, meet your friendly on-board Trailways host, then settle in and get comfortable! Make your way to Dayton, Ohio today for our overnight stay. Enjoy rest and refresh breaks along the way today, as well as a stop for lunch, on your own, before arriving at Carillon Brewing Company in Dayton.

Enjoy an included dinner, where European comfort-food recipes are reproduced, and staff are in period costume. Savor foods that tell the stories of Dayton’s earliest immigrants that shaped the historic brewing industry – English, Germans & Irish. Taste beers from different points in history and see how they have changed from ales of the 1850s through the drinks of Post-Prohibition to today’s craft brews. Watch steam billow from copper kettles, feel the heat of charcoal fires, and smell the malt wafting through the air as each hand-stirred batch of brew is crafted in front of you!

After dinner, take delight in “A Carillon Christmas” where Carillon Historical Park’s 65-acre campus is transformed into a winter wonderland of sparkle, magic, and holiday cheer! The park features The Carillon Tree of Light which circles around a 200-foot tall historic bell tower brightening the Dayton skyline. It also features Santa’s Toy Shop, Candy Cane Slopes, Letters to Santa, Deeds Carillon Christmas Concerts, Culp’s Christmas Café, Train Rides on the Midnight Express, Roundhouse Café in the Transportation Center, The Tailor of Gloucester Puppet Show, Carillon Card Co. in the 1930s Print Shop, Model Train Displays, Museum Store Shopping, 15 miles of Christmas Lights, Morris and Hetzel Bakery, Gristmill Christmas Village and more!

Then, depart to see the Legendary Christmas Lights of Historic Clifton Mill in Clifton which has a vintage mill, covered bridge, ‘40s-era gas station and a casual American eatery. Over four million lights illuminate the mill, the gorge, riverbanks, trees and bridges.

Day 2

Day 2: Thursday, December 3, 2020
After breakfast at the hotel this morning we depart for Hershey, Pennsylvania. We arrive mid-afternoon to check in to Hershey Lodge before enjoying an included dinner at the Lodge this evening. Experience Hershey’s most festive seasonal event of the year, Hersheypark Christmas Candylane! Experience more than 4 million lights, your favorite rides and coasters, a visit with Santa, and so much more! Have time to explore Hersheypark on your own and return to the lodge via shuttle service that runs every 30-40 minutes.

Day 3

Day 3: Friday, December 4, 2020
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before departing to visit Hershey’s Chocolate World. Learn the fascinating process of chocolate making on a simulated factory tour ride. Guests walk through a tropical jungle where cocoa beans are harvested, then they follow the cocoa bean’s journey to a boat dock where beans are loaded onto ships headed for America. Form there, visitors climb aboard the tour ride and enter the simulated factory tour.

After, embark on a Hershey Trolley Works tour of the town’s history and life story of Milton Hershey. Enjoy lunch, on your own, at the food hall while at Hershey’s Chocolate World.

Check in to the Hotel DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware this afternoon. Hotel DuPont has been welcoming guests since 1913 to one of the grandest hotels in the world located in the heart of downtown Wilmington. Enjoy your luxurious accommodations for the evening! After getting settled, enjoy a welcome reception and high tea.

Tonight’s welcome dinner will be hosted in the Green Room, the hotel’s signature restaurant, which has been recognized with the AAA Four-Diamond Award and Forbes Four-Star Award. Known for lavish design elements like fumed oak paneling, a coffered oak-beamed ceiling, gold chandeliers, richly textured draperies, Italian mosaics and original oil paintings, the Green Room brings the elegance and grandeur of the of the Gilded Age into the 21st century. Vibrant ambiance and impeccable service provide the perfect backdrop for savoring cuisine that has earned a AAA Four-Diamond Award for each year for three decades.

Day 4

Day 4: Saturday, December 5, 2020
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning departing to celebrate the season touring beautiful historic houses of Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. After, depart for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, chartered in 1875 for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. It is the cultural heart of the city – the place for creative play, with a surprise around every corner. Enjoy lunch, on your own, after arrival and then take a guided overview tour of the museum.

This afternoon, experience Christmas Village in Philadelphia at the newly renovated LOVE Park of Center City, transformed into an authentic German Christmas market. Over 80 local and international vendors await the visitors in their traditional wooden booths, offering holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry, high-quality arts and crafts. Everybody is sure to find unique gifts for their loved ones that can’t be found in a shopping mall! Enjoy European foods, sweets and drinks, such as Bratwurst, Schnitzel and Lebkuchen (gingerbread) or a cup of hot Gluehwein (mulled wine). Watch daily live performances by local bands, dance groups and artists on the Christmas Village stage.

Later this evening, board the Spirit of Baltimore. Enjoy Baltimore’s greatest moving experience on the Spirit of Baltimore Dinner Cruise with a premium open bar! With so much to offer, including the great sights and sounds of Baltimore’s Harbor and a fantastic buffet dinner, it’s really no wonder why this cruise is one of the city’s top attractions! Sit back, relax with drink in hand, and enjoy a Jingle Bell Rock Dinner Cruise! Please Note: Business Casual to Semi-Formal attire is recommended.

Day 5

Day 5: Sunday, December 6, 2020
After a wonderful breakfast at the hotel this morning, enjoy the Holidays at Nemours Estate in Wilmington. Beautiful throughout the year, Nemours Estate is breathtaking during the holiday season. The 77-room mansions, modeled after Marie Antoinette’s Le Petit Trianon, is dressed to the nines. Nemours is aglow with elaborate table settings, spectacular floral displays, and an array of beautiful Christmas trees, garlands, and wreaths. Many of the family’s original ornaments and decorations are evident including a German creche complete with soft ceramic, unglazed, and hand-colored figures dating to the late 19th century.

After touring, depart to enjoy lunch, on your own, at Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library in Winterthur, Delaware. Delight in the museum’s magnificent collection of American decorative arts as you tour the house and exhibition galleries. Enjoy the glorious 60-acre garden and surrounding woodlands and meadows, and play in Enchanted Woods, the award-winning children’s garden. Dine in Winterthur’s cafes and shop the many options in the Museum Stores. After touring the house and gardens, we depart for Christmas at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
Enjoy an included dinner in the Terracotta Room at Longwood Gardens before delighting in the holiday lights and festivities, including a sing-along to the sounds of the season played on Longwood’s organ.
After dinner, celebrate the many shapes of the season, inspired by the contours of traditional holiday favorites like ribbons and colorful confectionery, and by the figures of nature from pine cones to snowflakes.
Outdoors, stroll among illuminated trees, glowing orbs, and a shimmering tunnel of lights. Take in a light display choreorgraphed to musc in the Main Fountain Garden and by a large lake.
Enjoy holiday lights and festivities, including a sing-along to the sounds of the season played on Longwood’s organ. It’ll be a Longwood Christmas to remember!

Day 6

Day 6: Monday, December 7, 2020
Depart after breakfast this morning for a visit to the beautiful campus of Brandywine River Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. The museum houses regional and American art, showcasing the works of Andrew Wyeth, a major American realist painter.
After touring, arrive at Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington. Located on 235 acres along the banks of the Brandywine in Wilmington, Hagley is the site of the gunpowder works founding by E.I. DuPont in 1802. This example of early American industry includes restored mills, a workers’ community, and the ancestral home and gardens of the DuPont family.

Hagley’s library furthers the study of business and technology in America. The collections include individuals papers and companies’ records ranging from eighteenth-century merchants to modern telecommunications and illustrate the impact of the business system on society.

Enjoy an included lunch in a private historic building on Hagley’s property with light lunch fare. Then, take an extended Brandywine Tour of Hagley Museum and Library, which includes the Visitor Center and visit to Worker’s Hill, which shows where the mill workers lived and their children went to school, in addition to the DuPont black powder yards and gardens and grounds of the first DuPont family home in America.

Delight in an included farewell dinner this evening at Brandywine Prime Restaurant, a charming, upscale spot for traditional American cuisine such as steaks, crab cakes and scallops. After, return to the hotel with the remainder of the evening on your own.

Day 7

Day 7: Tuesday, December 8, 2020
After breakfast at the hotel this morning, depart for Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Arrive at the Landis Valley Museum and enjoy a Belsnickel lunch and tour. Celebrate the many classic Christmas traditions handed down to us from the Pennsylvania Germans! Join us for holiday shopping, a wonderful meal and a visit from the Belsnickel! A holiday luncheon is served in the Historic Landis Valley House Hotel.

Mid-afternoon, we drop our luggage off at the Cork Factory Hotel where we’ll be staying tonight. This unique hotel is housed in a renovated old cork factory in Lancaster. After dropping luggage, we enjoy a matinee show. Take seating at Sight and Sound Millennium Theatre in Ronks. Sight and Sound takes theatre to a whole new level! Every show is an epic experience with a meaningful message, where edge-of-your-seat action meets heartfelt drama.

Enjoy the show Queen Esther at Sight and Sound Theatre! Her story is a captivating tale of bravery and beauty. Esther’s ordinary life changed forever when she was taken through the palace doors, entering a new world of royalty and risk. With a crown on her head and a secret in her heart, can she find the courage to trust in God’s plan and believe that she was made for such a time as this? Experience one of the most riveting Bible stories of the Old Testament as it comes to life with magnificent sets, special effects and live animals in this brand-new, original stage production.
Depart after the show for an included dinner at Plain and Fancy Farm Restaurant for all-you-can-eat-family-style platters of Pennsylvania Dutch fare in a kitschy farmhouse setting.

This evening enjoy a Christmas Journey and Victorian Magic Lantern Show. Make new magical Christmas memories! Step back in time and become part of a Victorian family’s traditional Christmas Eve celebration, as Grandpa tells fabulous Christmas stories with the help of the amazing Magic Lantern. Laugh out loud at the “Parade of Toys” and the story of an out-of-control giant snowball, enjoy “The Night Before Christmas,” discover the rarely seen “Gabriel Grubb and the Goblins,” and experience Charles Dickens’ classic “Christmas Carol” as it would have been over a century ago.

Day 8

Day 8: Wednesday, December 9, 2020
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel prior to checking out and heading for Wheeling, West Virginia. Arrive at Oglebay and check in to Wilson Lodge before enjoying an included lunch at the Lodge this afternoon.

Mid-afternoon, visit Oglebay Mansion Museum, the elegant estate of Cleveland industrialist Earl W. Oglebay, who purchased the mansion and surrounding acres in 1900 to serve as a summer home. Upon his death in 1926, the millionaire willed his spectacular country estate to the City of Wheeling. Highlights of your visit include exploring 13 period rooms focusing on Wheeling’s earliest settlement through the opulent Edwardian era, plus the Wymer General Store and Sinclair Pharmacy collections. Discover impressive collections of American furniture, china, silver, glass, pewter, toys and textiles.

After, return to the lodge with time to freshen up before having an included dinner at the lodge. Later this evening, enjoy a guided tour of Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights, identified as one of the best Christmas displays in the United States by many travel companies and national publications, with over six miles of lighting amidst 300 dazzling acres.

Day 9

Day 9: Thursday, December 10, 2020
After breakfast, visit the Oglebay Institute Glass Museum featuring a collection of glass art and crafts, plus glass-blowing demonstrations.

Then, start your journey home with lunch, on your own, en route. Check in to the Couryard Indianapolis by Marriott and have some time to freshen up before exploring this evening.

Drive by the Lights at Monument Circle, known for lighting up during the holiday season. Long strings of sparkling colors encircle the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Have dinner, included, at the Iron Skillet, a historic home turned eatery that supplies abundant 3-course meals of homestyle fare served-family style since 1953.

After dinner, enjoy Winterlights at Newfields. It’s very merry. It’s really bright. Winterlights holiday tradition returns in Central Indiana. Create memories as you stroll through a spectacular Winter Wonderland, sip apple cider or hot chocolate and make s’mores over a fire pit.

Watch lights dance to music on the Lilly House lawn and stop to take photos at the Snowflake Bridge, Frosted Forest and other illuminated displays throughout the grounds. Special glasses will be available that transform every one of the 1.5 million lights into a shimmering snowflake. Guests can also revisit another beloved Newfields tradition, Deck the Halls at the Lilly House, during Winterlights. Each room in the elegant, historic mansions will feature decorative surprises, including beautiful holiday floral arrangements.

Day 10

Day 10: Friday, December 11, 2020
Enjoy breakfast this morning at the hotel prior to checking out and embracing your holiday spirit as we arrive at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center in Indianapolis to experience the Festival of trees! Indulge in the joy of the holiday season with several dozen elaborate trees packed into the grand building, creating a winter wonderland to delight people of all ages. There have been upside-down trees, trees made from unconventional materials like balloons, tires and books, and more. You can vote for your favorites, but it will be a tough decision!

We then arrive in Carmel, Indiana in time to have lunch, on your own, and time to shop at the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. The Carmel Christkindlmarkt is where the charm of long-standing European tradition comes to the heart of Carmel. One of the earliest of these markets was the 16th century Christkindlmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany and the wonderful tradition has now spread worldwide. Guests will experience one-of-a-kind, high quality, handmade gifts, German inspired food, drink and ice skating.
Arrive home this evening with wonderful memories made on this wonderful DuPont Legacy Holiday Tour!
