Day 1

Day 1: Monday, December 5, 2022
Join us this morning from the available departure location of your choice, meet your friendly on-board host and driver, then sit back and relax as we make our way to Sikeston, Missouri for our overnight stay. Enjoy rest and refresh breaks along the way, as well as a stop for lunch, on your own, before arriving at the Drury Inn & Suites early this evening.
Check in to the hotel and have some time to freshen up before departing for dinner. You may want to enjoy a drink that is included with your room key packet while you’re waiting to depart.
Enjoy dinner at the “Original” Lambert’s – Home of the Thrown Roll. If you’ve not yet experienced a meal at Lambert’s, you may be surprised at the very generous helpings. And yes, they really do throw the rolls!

Day 2

ay 2: Tuesday, December 6, 2022
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before departing for Memphis and a Sights & Soul of the City Tour. Today we’ll delve into some of the places that give you an insight to the soul of Memphis and places that are not generally always included on a ‘typical’ tour including St. Jude’s Pavilion. This is an architecturally unique building which contains memorabilia of the late entertainer Danny Thomas, the founder of St. Jude’s hospital and dreamed that “no child should die in the dawn of life.”
Take a ride up 28 stories to the top of the Memphis Pyramid – known to be the largest pyramids in the northern hemisphere and perhaps among the top ten biggest in the world depending on the method of measurement. It is also home to the world’s largest Bass Pro Shop where you will have time to visit the Great Cypress Swamp and enjoy a little time for shopping.
You’ll also visit the Stax Museum which will include an introductory film before checking out the displays on Stax Record’s most famous artists and visit a replica of legendary Studio A. There’s also a short live music show in the theater.
We arrive at The Guest House at Graceland at 3600 Elvis Presley Blvd, and have some time to settle in and freshen up before our first big event in Memphis this evening. With the design supervision of Priscilla Presley herself, you’ll soon discover why this AAA Four Diamond hotel embodies a “make-yourself-at-home” spirit that Elvis always showed his guests. This boldly decorated, luxuriously appointed hotel harnesses all the swagger and style of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll himself.
This evening we take in a private special event planned just for a few groups at Graceland. Enjoy a plated Southern Meal, typical of Memphis and the Mississippi Delta, with a dessert and beverage included. (A cash bar is available.) Following dinner, be treated to an Elvis Holiday Tribute show with a live band, back-up singers, full-stage lighting and sound as well as one of America’s best-known tribute artists. You’ll hear such great songs as “Merry Christmas Baby,” “White Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and many other traditional holiday songs all performed in the inimitable Elvis-style including his title song, “Blue Christmas!” You’ll go back to the Guest House with the lyrics running through your head… “And when those blue snowflakes start fallin’, that’s when those blue memories start callin’. You’ll be doin’ all right, with your Christmas of white, but I’ll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas…”
Return to the Guest House at Graceland for the remainder of the evening to enjoy on your own.

Day 3

Day 3: Wednesday, December 7, 2022
After breakfast at The Guest House, start the morning with a Memphis MoJo Tour with a musician tour guide showing you the sights of the city while history sings. As you rock on down the road, you will also visit Sun Studio, the Birthplace of Rock n’ Roll, and walk the halls where Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and a hundred others made music. Also included is a visit to the Memphis Rock n’ Soul Museum, a Smithsonian Institution that features the complete history of Memphis Music. It tells of the musical pioneers and legends of all racial and socioeconomic backgrounds who, for the love of music, overcame obstacles to create the sounds that changed the world.
Have lunch, on your own, and enjoy free time to explore the famous Beale Street. For over 150 years, Beale Street has hosted blues music and entertainment. Beale played a pivotal role in branding Memphis as one of the most musically rich cities in the world, and was prominent in hosting some of the first black business owners in the south. In between, the street was host to the birth of blues music, the civil rights movement, rock ‘n’ roll, racks of ribs and bands. Most of the buildings that exist on Beale are the same buildings that have been frequented by the great many music lovers and great musicians that came in the 100 years before, providing a proprietary sense of history to the legendary street. While there are an unlimited number of restaurants to choose from, here are three that come highly recommended!

BLUES CITY CAFÉ – their claim to serving the “Best Meal on Beale” is worth checking out! The recommendations are many, but the top choices seem to the be the Memphis barbecue ribs, the gumbo fries, and the Delta-style tamales. What are gumbo fries? Crispy, piping hot steak-cut fries topped with a big pour of Blues City’s seafood gumbo.
B.B. KING’S – many come for the live blues music and stay for the food. Pull apart some BBQ ribs slathered in B.B. King’s house sauce, the King’s Meatloaf and mac ‘n’ cheese. The menu offers a sampling of your standard Southern and BBQ favorites, so there’s something for everybody. Live music is generally in the evenings though.
MISS POLLY’S SOUL CITY CAFÉ – this cozy restaurant on Beale Street is more of a daytime hangout than most of the others for a good reason. That reason is: chicken ‘n’ waffles for breakfast, brunch or lunch on Beale Street. You’ll find Miss Polly’s on most “best fried chicken in Memphis” lists. Fried green tomatoes and turnip greens are also favorites.
Return to the hotel later this afternoon to freshen up for this evening’s Main Event – a private evening tour of Graceland!
The extensive Christmas display at the King’s castle includes hundreds of blue lights along the driveway, a life-size Nativity scene, Santa and his sleigh, and much more, all originally displayed at Graceland by Elvis and the Presley family. The interiors of Graceland mansion feature the Presley family’s Christmas décor including Elvis’ traditional red velvet drapes as well as Presley family Christmas artifacts displayed just as they were by Elvis around several decorated trees through the home. Typically, the Graceland Mansion closes at 4:00 pm, however, by special arrangement, it is available exclusively to a very few select groups this evening. Our receptive has rented the entire complex and you will be able to enjoy an experience not available to the General Public.
Your evening includes a dinner buffet in the new Elvis Presley Memphis Complex. You’ll enjoy a true Memphis Barbecue with buffets and tables in unique locations. While here, you can tour Presley Motors where you are surrounded by an awesome collection of hot cars, motorcycles and toys. The “Elvis the Entertainer Museum” is open to you with various artifacts including photos, gold records, costumes and more. You also have time at the Elvis Discovery Zones showcasing the influences and important things in his life. View the more than twenty cars that were owned by Elvis including his pink Cadillac.

Day 4

Day 4: Thursday, December 8, 2022
After enjoying one last breakfast at The Guest House this morning we depart for Nashville – aka Music City. On our way there we will visit the Western Tennessee Heritage Center celebrating the music, cotton and beauty of the Tennessee Delta. While there, be sure to visit the Flagg Grove School! This one-room schoolhouse once attended by a young Anna Mae Bullock (a.k.a. Tina Turner), built by her great uncle in 1889, is now home to the Tina Turner Museum. Inside you’ll find a collection of her memorabilia, including costumes, gold records and even her high school yearbook. Saved and moved from Nutbush, a small farming community just outside of Brownsville, you’ll also experience what learning must have been like for African-American students in the 1940’s through the early ‘60s. The structure also includes an authentic chalkboard and the original desks and benches preserved along with the structure. Visitors to the school also experience Tina’s last concert while looking through the exhibit.
Arriving in Nashville, settle in for a two-night stay at the beautiful Gaylord Opryland Hotel where you will marvel at more than 3 million holiday lights and acres of magnificent decorations as well as spectacular holiday activities and events that are sure to get you in the spirit of the season and create some lasting memories.

You will receive tickets to visit ICE! and also take a Delta River Flatboat ride at your leisure. ICE! is a walk-through holiday attraction with larger-than-life sculptures and slides constructed of pure ice to go down. Amazingly, they are all hand-carved from more than 2 million pounds of ice. Each year features a theme such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, etc. The theme is generally announced mid-year. You will want to wear your winter coat, hat and gloves, but even so, they will still provide you with a special parka as the temperature is kept at a finger-numbing 9 degrees!
There are 3 different types of ice used – clear ‘crystal’ which takes 3 days to freeze to create each 400-pound ice block; white ice which looks like compacted snow and is frozen very quickly to get this effect and colored ice that has been dyed to one of nine brilliant colors. Flying in from Harbin, China, the carvers come to the states for a six to seven-week stint to work in a space that is kept at a balmy 9 degrees Fahrenheit, using a 250-page construction book to guide them as they chip, shave and carve the ice into an indoor wonderland of holiday scenes. And even though they work 10 hours a day for 35 straight days to bring an ICE! show to life, it’s a labor love for these artisans, many of whom have been trained since childhood to become masters in their craft.
Climb aboard one of the Mississippi-style Delta Flatboats and take a leisurely (15 minute) ride down the Delta River found in the Delta atrium. It is made up of water samples from 1,700 rivers from regions around the globe including samples from every registered river in the United States. From exotic plants to several animal species, the ride will offer you some relaxation along with exploration. Don’t forget to look up! The Delta Atrium is covered in 250 pounds of glass panels that stretch the length of seven football fields. But don’t forget to look down into the water too… be on the lookout for Danny, the 80-pound catfish. He is often found near the rock bed and plants, and he is simply an amazing sight to see.
Enjoy the remainder of the day, and evening, to explore and enjoy the many sights and amenities of this amazing resort. Dinner is on your own this evening with many dining choices available within the resort.

Day 5

Day 5: Friday, December 9, 2022
Have breakfast at the hotel before departing for a Nashville Troubadour Tour. Troubadour music sightseeing is an ‘only in Nashville’ kind of experience and brings new meaning to the phrase “entertaining narrative!” Today’s tour will be with a singer/songwriter guide and will include downtown Nashville’s colorful history with a drive-by of the historic Ryman Auditorium, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Honky Tonk Row, Ernest Tubb’s Record Shop and the Bluebird Café. Plus, you will hear what it is like trying to break into Nashville’s music scene, both the struggles and the victories. As a bonus, your Troubadour will perform some of their own original songs. What’s a Troubadour? Basically, a poet who writes verse to music.
Enjoy a Luncheon Cruise on the General Jackson today. One of the largest showboats ever built, the grand General Jackson is an elegant triumph of American ingenuity. The General Jackson was built by the largest inland shipbuilder in the United States, Jeffboat, and was launched on the Ohio River in Indiana to start the journey to its new home on Nashville’s Cumberland River on April 20, 1985. While “rollin’ down the river,” you’ll enjoy stunning views, a delicious meal freshly prepared by their chefs and toe-tapping entertainment in the two-story Victorian Theater.
The remainder of the afternoon is free for you to enjoy as you wish – If you haven’t yet taken your flatboat ride, this may be the day to do it! Visit the garden conservatories, the holiday displays and visit the many shops inside the Gaylord Hotel. Take time to freshen up for this evening’s event, located within the hotel.
Tonight will be the Country Christmas Dinner Show! Keeping the musical tradition alive, the Country Christmas Dinner Show will feature a delicious holiday meal prepared by the resort’s culinary team which will be followed by one of country music’s famed entertainers or groups. The featured artist(s) will be announced later in 2022. Some of those who have performed in the past are The Oakridge Boys, Trace Adkins, Lorrie Morgan, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Crystal Gayle and more. The musical performances generally contain Christmas classics, new favorites and the timeless hits that have shaped the artist’s career. The remainder of the evening is free, on your own.
Enjoy one last breakfast at the hotel this morning before setting your luggage out and getting ready for departure. Giddy up – it’s time to head back home for Christmas!
